School Traverse Walls on Freestanding Structures
Some schools simply do not have a suitable masonry wall so we build high quality wooden structures that can be customised to fit into the available space. Our handmade free-standing traverse walls are built to last and can be extended at a later date. We have no difference in price for installing on a hard surface or soft. Most of the work is done off site in our workshop, where we will create the wall that will be pieced together onsite- this minimizes inconvenience. The options for these walls are infinite - mural design, blended camouflage, angle walls, natural wood finishes and even Glow in the Dark paint!

Prices range from £1055 for a 2M long double-sided wall with over 4 linear meters of climbing area to the best selling size of a 5M long structure, double-sided with over 10M of climbing area - Total £2139 - INSTALLED.

School Traverse Walls on Masonry

For a traverse wall onto existing masonry we use internally threaded anchor sleeves with a resin mortar. This creates permanent anchor points in the wall which will last many years.  This is the highest grade fixing system into masonry available, yet we are still cheaper than companies using inferior methods. The climbing grips can be repositioned over an over  again to create new challenges.  We charge £75.00 per linear meter as we give 12 holds per linear meter this works out at £6.25 per climbing hold - INSTALLED - which is the best price in the UK for this premium specification wall.

A 10M Traverse wall onto existing masonry with x120 climbing grips = £750.00.

Testimonials
"We have been exceptionally pleased with the pleasant, professional service provided by the Mockrock team. From quote to construction we have been given clear and accurate information and pricing. The service has been excellent and the final product outstanding. The children have been desperate to climb on the wall and watched Ben work intensely with anticipation. Once on the wall the children have not stopped playing, climbing and exercising- they love it. In addition to the children all the parents have given positive feedback too and wish they could have a go. Passers by have also shown a positive reaction and made complimentary comments. Thank You Mock Rock for an excellent, non expensive investment into the school environment at Thomas Barnes."  - Jon (Headteacher)

"Mrs Middleton was very pleased with the work you did, especially in the terrible weather conditions. You left the playground nice & tidy too so thank you for that. Myself. Mrs Middleton  & a few of the children road tested the wall tonight & it got a big thumbs up!! Many thanks again" - Karen

Regulations
Traverse Walls below 2.2M in height with footholds below 60cm do not legally require rubber-safety surfacing.

FAQ'S
Q) How many climbing holds do you get per linear meter?

Most playground installation companies give 6-7 holds per linear meter. We install a minimum of 12.

Q) How much is it per linear metre?
£75 per linear meter.. or it works out a £6.25 each climbing hold - INSTALLED. Many of our competitors give a linear metre price but do not mention the amount of holds per linear meter, so be sure to calculate the cost per climbing hold - it is likely to be double our price!

Q) Do you sell just the climbing holds?
We used to sell climbing holds but found that customers tended to struggle to install them and for trade clients we often had to go out and correct their installations. We decided to use all the knowledge we had gained to become specialist traverse wall installers instead. We developed a new type of climbing hold which is rubber-backed, this gives far superior surface adhesion and we no longer use traditional climbing holds as they are really designed to go on flat plywood sheets not rough masonry walls.

Q) How many routes to you get?
A minimum of 3 different colour graded routes with a different colour for footholds. (Different colour climbing holds are used to create challenges or 'routes' on the wall)

Q) Do your walls comply to safety regulations? Are they safe?
Yes above and beyond all safety regulations. We put our footholds very low to the ground at approx 30cm. Regulations state that footholds must be below 60cm in height if there is no safety surfacing. We also ensure there is a large enough gap between the footholds and first tier of handholds that makes it very difficult for the wall to be misused and climbed vertically instead of traversing across. But even if this is attempted the highest hand holds are always below 2.2 Meters so there is never far to go and the risk of injury is minimal. We also use safety-critical fixing systems which to our knowledge is the highest specification system used by any traverse wall company in the UK.

Q) Isn't climbing dangerous?
Bouldering is low level climbing without ropes - it is exciting and fun and has an excellent safety record. One hour of intensive climbing can burn more calories than one hour of running! However it often doesn't feel like gruelling hard work, because the mind is occupied with the task of solving the problem of getting from A to B by selecting the right handholds.

Q) Do you have a minimum order value?
We did, which was a 10M traverse wall or 120 climbing holds installed = £750. But now we are very flexible. We are based in the East Midlands - Nottinghamshire so if we have to get to Cornwall then we have to ask that a minimum of a 120 climbing holds be installed. If you do not have a 10M wall which is suitable, then we can just install 120 climbing holds in whatever space you have available - or place them on separate areas around the building. If you are less than 120 Miles away from Nottingham then we will come out and do traverse walls to a value of £600 (an 8M traversing wall.)
